Horde Sweeps Stillwater

Rick Lyons Staff Writer:  The Granville Golden Horde baseball and softball teams traveled to Stillwater Saturday morning looking for a pair of victories over the Warriors as well as a pair of firsts.  A baseball win would be the first of the season for the boys while a softball W would keep the girls in first place of the Wasaren.  They both got what they came looking for as the Horde won 6-3 on the baseball diamond and 4-2 on the softball field.

Granville scored in each of the first three innings building a 6-1 working margin, and hung on for the 6-3 decision giving the Horde their elusive first win of the year.

Luke Hahn scattered seven hits while striking out five in going the distance for Granville.  Colton Zavistaski doubled and Evan Hoagland added a pair of hits for the 1-4, 1-8 Golden Horde.

On the softball diamond Granville trailed 2-0 going to the top of the sixth, but scored four times in the inning, the big hit coming off the bat of Angela Vladyka as she stroked a two-run double giving the Horde the 4-2 lead they would not give back.  With the win Granville keeps sole possession of first place in the Wasaren.

Bridget Decker added a pair of hits to the Horde attack, and Emily Fuller doubled and picked up the win from the circle for the 5-0, 7-2 Golden Horde.
